Have you ever had one of those shopping experiences with your children when you simply have to abandon your cart filled with items and escape the store before either: one, you loose your temper and someone calls child services; or two, the kids completely run out of control and scream wildly "I DON"T WANT A SPANKING. (which could lead to child services as well)"
Well i have. And here is my honest, yet humbling, story.
Here is the scenario:
The boys are sitting in one of those car seat things attached to the front of the cart and there are no straps, or they are simply too filthy to touch, either way their precious bottoms will not stay planted! The four mangy go-go gadget arms are flailing all over the place in an attempt to grasp at something amazing, while I am constantly correcting, trying to stay calm, and recalling all the items on my list which is sitting comfortably on the kitchen counter. Yes, I too would rather be sitting comfortably on the kitchen counter then attempting to engage in this shopping adventure. The looks start. How embarrassing. I try to push my embarrassment aside and focus on the real issue, "the hearts of my children!" Now they are beginning to pick at each other. a pinch here and a push there. suddenly a bite unexpectedly causes a fierce reaction of anger. aaaaahhhhh. i want to scream too!!!
cart abandoned. discipline awaiting two quite deserving boys. silence on the car trip home.
Ephesians 6:1 is our verse for this week! :)
