As have been mourning the loss of my friend Sheri this summer I have many times felt as though i am grieving in isolation. Sheri's family and friends surround the windy city of Chicago, which is many miles from our home here in south Florida. That distance seems significant when I think about the opportunities I missed in visiting with her over the past few years - especially in the last year she was stricken with cancer.
I have had many dreams about Sheri and I in the past few weeks since her death. In those dreams Sheri and I spend a day together knowing it would be our last for a while - until we meet again in heaven. Typically those days in my dreams are all about the same. I am sad. Sheri is, for the most part, joyful. I always wake up missing her and strongly comforted by the fact that she is in the hands of our dear Savior.
We face a strange feeling of joy and sorrow when a believer dies. I have played this song a million times this summer.
Goodbye
by: West Coast Revival
we say goodbye to those we love
with faith and hope in a sovereign Lord
for we know His will is good
and His love will be there for the love to come
goodbye for a little while
we’ll meet again
goodbye it is a heart felt one
to say my friend
we’ll meet again in a better land
the tears we cry are of grief and joy
though we hurt, they hurt no more
because they lived for their eternal home
so we too are living for the love to come
goodbye for a little while
we’ll meet again
goodbye it is a heart felt one
to say my friend
we’ll meet again in a better land
Lord, take this pain and use it for your glory!
Lord, bring your hope and put it in our hearts!
Lord, take this pain and use it for your glory!
Lord, bring your hope and put it in our hearts!
goodbye for a little while
we’ll meet again
goodbye it is a heart felt one
to say my friend
we’ll meet again in a better land

I understand how you feel that you are grieving in isolation. I've felt the same way since losing my mom.
