Today we celebrated Benjamin's 4th birthday with a pirate party!! He chose the theme, the food, the drinks, and the activities! :)
The kids survived the 111 degrees outside nicely due to a bit of water (balloons, sprinklers, and the hose). We had a pirate even show up to help us find a treasure and avoid the mean pirates protecting it (a big thanks to Abby for drawing the maps and directing the pirate treasure hunt)!!
Maddie, a sixth grader at our church, designed and baked our cake! She did a fantastic job... it was amazing!! We continued the tradition of soaking the birthday boy with buckets of water while we sang happy birthday to him! This began as a result of my trip to Kenya in 2000. It was a tradition they did, so we have adopted it too! So much FUN!!!
