Our family experienced something new this past weekend. We went camping!!! Hesitant to invest in gear prior to knowing if we liked the adventure, we borrowed a tent, sleeping bags, and venture out for one night at over 7,000 feet with 16 sweet friends (including lots of kids of all ages). The weather alone in Phoenix pushes people to higher elevations. It is astonishing the drastic changes in temperature within an hour drive to our north. We pitched our tent in a remote area near Prescott, AZ. The top of a mountain in fact.
Psalm 19 echoed in my mind as we gazed down into valleys, watched thousands of ladybugs swarm, and marveled in the calm stillness of the night. How great our your works oh Lord!!
"The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above* proclaims his handiwork.
Psa. 19:2 Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
Psa. 19:3 There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
Psa. 19:4 Their voice goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for the sun,
Psa. 19:5 which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,
and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
Psa. 19:6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens,
and its circuit to the end of them,
and there is nothing hidden from its heat."
