This year we made an Easter Grace Garden, inspired by "A Holy Experience!" The children loved this, and with the exception of total distraction by the candles (what is it with FIRE and BOYS??...i will never understand), it was a new tradition that I am sure we will carry on for years to come.
Four candles line the pathway to a tomb. Each night we light a candle as we read scripture, talk about what happened in Jesus's journey to the cross. On Good Friday we light all the candles and then blow them out. Silence (with except of child crying due to the fact that he blew out one candle and other child blew out three candles... ugh!). Darkness. Reminders of our need for the Savior.
"He is Risen!"
"He is risen indeed!"
I loved hearing this echo in my home on Easter morning. The kids and I enjoyed a calm and joyful morning as we lite all the lights in our Easter Grace Garden to rejoice in the fact that our great rescuer had conquered death and risen from the grave!! What a precious and heart warming time as we remembered the great mercy and love our God has for us, his children!
Picture time was, as usual, torture as I tried to get three little ones to smile, not stick their tongues out, not climb the tree, stay out of the dirt, keep their fingers out of their noses, not hit their brother... etc, etc, etc, {warm smile} i love my boys.
| Easter Egg time. (Lindsay, see they never wear clothes) |
